Near Protocol is a fast-growing project with huge ambitions and potential for growth. I have already talked about the advantages of the Near Protocol in my previous articles.

I advise you to read it:

Today we will touch on a very important part of the Near Protocol ecosystem, namely, earnings with the help of this project. I’m not talking to you about simple trading, no, I mean real work that is paid from the Near fund.

This will be a whole series of articles aimed at this, because there are too many ways to earn NEAR, so we will divide this cycle into 5–6 articles. Today we will talk with you about hackathons that are held with the support of NEAR.

What is a hackathon?

As it says in Wikipedia.

A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest, datathon or codefest; a portmanteau of hacking marathon) is a design sprint-like event; often, in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, domain experts, and others collaborate intensively on software projects.

The goal of a hackathon is to create functioning software or hardware by the end of the event. Hackathons tend to have a specific focus, which can include the programming language used, the operating system, an application, an API, or the subject and the demographic group of the programmers. In other cases, there is no restriction on the type of software being created.

In simple words, this is a competition between developers and their teams to create programs, applications, and web services for a certain amount of time.

The rules of the hackathon vary, but in most cases anyone can participate, of course you must understand programming or be part of a team

MetaBUIDL with NEAR ($1.000.000)

Official site: https://metabuidl.splashthat.com/

This is a global event that will bring together the best teams of WEB 3.0 developers and help them realize themselves, as it was, for example, with 1inch. Yes, they also started with a hackathon.

Among the speakers and judges of the teams of well-known projects, for example: Illia Polosukhin (NEAR), Anton Bukov (1inch), Li Jin (Atelier Ventures), James Young (Collab Land) and others.

First Series: August 27 — September 12.

Let’s look at the awards and the purpose of this hackathon.

The total prize pool will be $ 1 million, it will be distributed before the end of the year. This is an astronomical amount funded from the NEAR fund. At the moment, several directions are available.

Partner Challenge Pool ($100k)

This direction allows you to interact with projects on the NEAR blockchain directly.

https://airtable.com/shrdNEynK25TGJ91h/tblTtriXzrEiCfpoy — here you can find live examples of tasks and have already decided on the vector of activity.

The basic grant amount in the Partner Challenge Pool is 5 thousand dollars, you can choose several partners to start solving their problem, no one limits you. At the moment, the Partner Challenge Pool includes 22 projects with a total prize fund of just over 100 thousand dollars.

Let’s figure out how everything works there.

For example, let’s take a task from HumanGuild.

The task.

All the participants of the hackathon need is to familiarize themselves with the task and prepare for its implementation on August 27. By the way, the HumanGuild task sounds very interesting, I advise you to read it.

The reward for this task is $7,500 in NEAR. This is a very good amount, but that’s not all, if your project attracts interest from investors and the fund, then you can get additional investments.

This is one of the options for participating in the hackathon.

Hack Nodes Open Cal

This is the direction for the organizers. Unfortunately, the participation have already been closed, but you can keep in mind that this also exists. Local Hack Nodes Poolis a series of global hackathons around the world.

In other words, this is an opportunity to organize your own local MetaBUIDL hackathon node in your city. You can get funding from the Near fund to organize the event.

Personal events are necessary for team-making and networking, this is a very good opportunity to get acquainted with professionals and organizers live.

Agree, it’s a good opportunity to participate in a hackathon, even without knowing how to program. By the way, check if you can participate in the local node of your city. You can see links to contacts on the official MetaBuidl website.

If you are a good organizer, you can suggest holding a hackathon in here: https://gov.near.org/c/community/community-events/11

By the way, the forum gov.near.org — this is just an amazing place, I will tell you about it in my other articles.

There are also additional prizes for active participation in the hackathon.

Conclusion

Hackathons have nurtured a huge number of champions who have become full-fledged and brightly developing projects. The NEAR team knows how important it is to finance novice developers and their projects.

I will follow the progress of this large-scale event and cover it in my future articles. I am sure that MetaBUIDL will give us a huge number of great teams and their solutions.
